We leave Chengdu for a few days in the direction of Xi’an, the ancient capital of China. With a little delay due to computer problems, here are some pictures of this promising region, which unfortunately we do not have time to cross entirely by bicycle.

We drank tea in China every day. But one day, a rich Chinese we met at a restaurant in Leshan invited us to his home and offered us a traditional tea ceremony!

Some go on honeymoon trips around the world by bicycle flower to gun, others do it for a cause: the environment. We shared our Chinese Warmshower Lien host's accommodation with Kim and Simon, a lovely Vietnamese-Australian couple who ride for our planet. We spoke at length about their commitment and their motivations for the journey they are taking today. They left Vietnam and will reach Paris with the objective of the United Nations climate conference which will take place in…

Kangding, surprising city After the crazy day on the bus that we told you about the last time, we had the whole weekend to rest and visit the city of Kangding. We were very surprised by the still very important presence of Tibetan culture in this Sichuan city which is starting to be far from it, Tibet. Everywhere in the streets we met Tibetans and their beautiful typical faces and their characteristic clothes. We also met a lot of monks (and nuns) in their robes ...

Breathtaking landscapes, adorable and very curious people, great encounters and great generosity: welcome to Vietnam! Traditional clothes have marked us, the women are beautiful and flirtatious: their headdresses are surprising and change radically from one region to another. The driving is anything but sporty, all about anticipation and consistency of speed, surprisingly, but you get used to it quickly!

That's it, it's been a month that we are in China and 7 months of travel in all. Small return on this last month ...

Attention theme week: we are wasting almost this week chasing after our visas. The nasty lady from the PSB (Police Security Bureau) in Kangding simply did not want to renew our visas (not wanting), we had to leave for Leshan in extremis and lose 2000m of hard-earned altitude crammed into a bus (sniff! ). The nice ladies of the Leshan PSB did their job and issued us our visas within 48 hours!

It must be said, we love good food. Plus we're French… Going Slowly Before leaving for our year on the road I was following Tara and Tyler from the goingslowly.com blog. They are about our age, are Americans, he is a computer scientist and is a good photographer and she loves to cook - which is to say that I was immediately hooked, both for the original ideas in the development of the website, as for my fat appetite for good food.

Good passes, arid and hostile gorges, Tibetan houses, shorten: without being in Tibet, we are there anyway! The atmosphere is both surreal and unexpected, we take full eyes and heart.

In this article, climbs, cold, fatigue and difficulties ... but also superb landscapes and beautiful encounters, through an area that once belonged to Tibet and where this culture has been preserved.

This week we are still riding with the “patches libéré”, a couple of French cyclists. We discover the beauty of the Tiger Gorge and the mountains that follow. We end the week with two days of rest in Shangrila.

After much hesitation, we decided to go rub shoulders with the drops in the Yunnan mountains (rather than the karst rocks of the Guilin region). Why this choice over the other? The beauty of the landscapes, the few tourists and the urbanization of this area, and then in addition, two other cyclists will ride with us: Emilie and Jérémie, the patches released! But before finding them, a crazy day awaits us ...
